This beautiful antique shovel was quite the find. Purchased from an antique store in Elizabeth, Illinois. It is made from aluminum alloy, from top to bottom, which means it will not rust. A whimsical bird design has been cut into the shovel.
THE WOOD SHOVEL & TOOL COMPANY ALUMINUM ALLOY, SHOVEL, TRADEMARK, PIQUA, OHIO, USA has been engraved on the shovel and is in excellent condition (see pictures). The company was in business from 1902-1934, so this shovel is roughly 100 years old.
The shovel head measures 13.5” tall x 12” wide. The entire shovel measures 40” tall and weighs 3.4 lbs.
